Accelerating the Expansion of Servicing Innovation: Meet Courtney Tyler, Customer Onboarding Manager
In this series, we’re focused on the humans who make up Sagent. We’re fortunate to have a team that is constantly evolving – both professionally and personally – folks from all over the world who bring a variety of experience, education, and perspectives to advance our challenging mission. We’re excited to introduce you to some of these talented people who make Sagent a vibrant, productive community.
Tell me about your family, pets, where you live, and anything else you’d like to share about your life to help people get to know you.
I have three kids: a 25-year-old daughter (who is newly married!), a 19-year-old daughter, and a 14-year-old son. I have two cats named Bellatrix and Hedwig, and a dog named Marvel. I live in the Prosper/Celina Texas area, and I am from Plano, Texas.
What are your hobbies?
I grew up playing soccer from childhood through college, and sports are still a huge part of my life. I’ve coached all of my kids’ soccer teams, and you’ll never walk into my home without seeing some sports game on the TV. While I’ve also gotten into reading and cooking, my favorite time is family game night. We’re a very competitive family, so you’d better bring your A-game!
Do you do any volunteer work or have a soft spot for any charity in your community?
My husband and I volunteer at our church and have led different marriage classes and small groups over the years.
What are your favorite movies, music, or TV shows?
I have a few! Some of my favorite movies are Remember the Titans, Good Will Hunting, and Moneyball. On TV, I love West Wing, Yellowstone, Stranger Things – plus, Ed Lasso or Friends for some comic relief.
Tell me about any notable accomplishments that you’re proud of.
One of my greatest accomplishments was graduating college as a single mother – which happened to be just in time for my mom to see me walk at graduation before she passed. That was one of my proudest moments.
Do you have a role model? If so, tell me about them.
My dad is my role model. He is a straight shooter who taught me resilience and resourcefulness. When I wanted to quit soccer at 4, he pushed me to persevere (much to the displeasure of my 4-year-old self). Because of his encouragement when times were tough, I was able to grow up playing the greatest sport in the world, which introduced me to some of my best friends and allowed me to receive a college scholarship.
What is your educational background?
I received by Bachelor of Arts in English Communications from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
What was your first “real” job?
My first real job was at Papa John’s, where I learned how to toss the dough and make pizza. This was back when your only delivery option was to call and place an order. Having taken so many orders over the phone, I really appreciate the convenience of ordering through an app (and I love being part of the team bringing this same real-time function to servicers through Dara!)
How did you get into mortgage fintech?
I’ve been in the mortgage industry for 23 years. My first job out of college was at Countrywide Home Loans on the foreclosure team. At the time, the hiring manager told me that despite having no mortgage experience, my sports experience demonstrated I can work as a team, lift up others, step in to support when my teammates need it, and ensure mutual success for all those I work with. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of mortgage roles until I wound up at Sagent.
What does your “day to day” look like in your role at Sagent?
As a Customer Onboarding Manager, I work on the Implementations Team and am currently implementing clients for Dara Claims. Day to day, I work on implementation projects, meet with clients to ensure our products work seamlessly for their needs, and work closely with departments across Sagent.
What is it about your job that motivates or challenges you?
I am motivated by the opportunity to continue learning and sharing that knowledge with others. Being involved with Dara Claims, there is so much to learn every day. I really love acquiring new knowledge and being able to pass it off to those around me.
Have you had an impactful mentoring experience, either giving or receiving?
I’ve been fortunate enough to be both a mentor and a mentee, but I truly appreciate being a mentor for those around me. One of the greatest benefits of leadership is being able to help my team grow in a mentor position and foster progress towards their short and long-term goals.
In your opinion, what is the greatest impact of building cloud-native servicing technology?
As a data-oriented person, I am always looking for real-time data. Building a cloud-native servicing technology creates the ability to obtain real-time data while managing monetary and regulatory risks, which also enhances automation and reduces manual intervention.
What excites you about Sagent’s mission to lead the evolution in loan servicing by solving its most complex challenges?
Loan servicing is incredibly important and impactful to homeowners. Being a part of the team that is revolutionizing servicing and creating a better experience for homeowners and our customers is what excites me most.
When you think about Sagent’s values of “Relentless, Relevant, Respectful and Reliable” which of those resonates with you most?
I appreciate each of Sagent’s core values, but reliable is always what lands most with me. It’s important to show up for those around you and be a dependable team member. Communicating proactively to reduce confusion and ensuring others feel heard is vital to working efficiently with your team.
What is your experience with Sagent’s culture?
Since I joined Sagent, I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of teams. My experience has shown me that this is a culture that emphasizes helping one another, exchanging knowledge, and lifting each other up.
What is your favorite thing about working for Sagent?
I love the flexibility that working for Sagent has offered me. Remote work means that I can engage with my teams, meet instantly with clients, and be a reliable leader from anywhere. I’m honored to be part of this great team!
We often ask a colleague to offer a quick blurb about our Sagent Standout, and David Doyle, SVP, Sales, had this to say about Courtney:
Courtney’s strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and professionalism give our customers confidence in Sagent’s ability to deliver for them. Courtney really makes an impact with her great work!
