HousingWire names Sagent CTO Uday Devalla 2023 Vanguard Award Winner
Having reliable fintech leaders who relentlessly challenge the status quo and ensure business strategies stay relevant — especially in shifting market cycles — is key to cultivating the best fintech team.
As Chief Technology Officer of mortgage servicing software leader Sagent, Uday Devalla pushes the industry forward as lead architect of the servicing space’s first and only cloud-native software platform that powers entire performing and non-performing loan servicing lifecycle for servicers, consumers, investors, and regulators.
Given Uday’s track record of developing revolutionary advancements for the industry at large (plus, a past HousingWire Vanguard award winner), it came as no surprise to learn that he had been selected as a winner of HousingWire’s 2023 Vanguard award.
Here’s what HousingWire had to say about the 2023 cohort of HousingWire Vanguard winners:
HousingWire’s 2023 Vanguards have led their respective organizations towards greatness while tackling challenges the housing economy has faced over the past 12 months. These 100 honorees were carefully selected by HousingWire’s selection committee, chosen for their vital contributions to their companies and the dynamic way they are changing the industry.

Uday’s Impact at Sagent
Over the last 12 months, Uday has remained singularly focused on his servicing customers while accelerating Sagent’s mortgage fintech roadmap and development of the servicing-fintech leader’s cloud-native, open-API servicing platforms.
Under his leadership this year, Sagent reached over $2T in outstanding mortgage balances on the platforms, a testament to the wider industry’s need for servicing operations excellence aligned with cost-control, optionality, and real-time policymaking.
As a result of Sagent’s landmark deal with America’s largest servicer, Mr. Cooper, Uday led the full integration of over 120 fintech professionals which included launching our first non-US location in Chennai, IN.
Uday ensures his new team members understand how a unified product and engineering organization can iterate and execute rapidly based on customer feedback, deep servicing expertise, and the introduction of new technologies.
Dedicated to fintech innovation across the servicing space at large, Uday lends a key internal voice to the importance of industry-wide initiatives like the development of MISMO standards.
A staunch advocate for Sagent’s participation in the development of improved data and delivery standards related to MSR transfers, Uday understands solutions to the most complex problems in servicing must stem directly from feedback from servicing customers themselves.
As a “visionary who gets the details”, Uday considers servicer feedback at a granular level, then, in coordination with his product and technology teams, builds products that serve their wider business interests in alignment with sector-specific data regulations and engrained processes.
The Bottom Line
Being both a savvy operator and future-state visionary, Uday aligns Sagent’s cloud-native focus with the realities of the modern mortgage marketplace and the pressing business goals of Sagent’s customers. With Uday at the helm, Sagent leverages the flexibility of a fintech startup and the resources of an enterprise heavyweight.
And a quote that Uday would like to leave you with (which highly resonates with the entire team here at Sagent):
True innovation is making wildly complex things simple for the masses.
Congratulations on this well-deserved award win, Uday! We’re proud to work alongside you as we build and execute our future-of-servicing model.
